Science GPA: 2.8
Cum. GPA: 3.15
MCAT: 37

I'm currently enrolled in BU's MAMS program. The dean of the Division of Graduate Medical Sciences said on the first day of classes that if you get a 3.9 in the program and a 35 on the MCAT, he will walk you down to the med school and sign you up. My question is this: if i do well in my SMP, do I have a chance of getting into other med schools besides BU, or am I limited to BU and my state school (Arizona) ? I'm concerned because i know that many med schools filter applicants out based on the ugrad GPA. If this is the case, they'll never see that I did an SMP, and I'm out of the applicant pool. Any and all opinions are welcomed. Thanks.

I think you'd be a pretty good candidate for some of the lower tier MD programs, especially if you do well in the MAMS program. You're above the 3.0 cGPA threshold which is the biggie in terms of being automatically weeded out.

Any advice on where to apply?

Your state schools, all DO schools, the lower ranked private schools. BU is definitely the best med school you have any practical chance of getting into, though.

Thanks for the advice!
