Kind of stressed - I have a relatively low undergrad GPA (3.4) mostly because of undiagnosed anxiety in my first two years of college, after that I never got lower than a B but I also stopped taking a lot of chemistry and biology courses in those departments and started taking a bunch of infectious disease classes and biomedical sciences courses because I thought I wanted to go into a PhD. I also worked in a bunch of different industries to try and find something other than medicine. Flash forward and I’m doing my MS and I decided I want to go to medical school, working as a medical assistant in orthopedic surgery, and taking the MCAT in April. I’m scoring consistently around a 508. Do I have a chance or should I just give up?

Welcome to the forums.

How do you know medicine is what you want to do? What type of MS is this? What non-clinical community service have you taken up, and for how long?

MS in Immunology with a thesis on HIV pathogenesis. I’ve been a volunteer for Make a Wish for about 6 years and also work at a local food bank.

So you were doing a research thesis? Can you give us a year by year account of your gpas?

Your GPA right now is fine for any DO school, including mine.

Rising GPA Trends are always good.
