Do I HAVE TO list these classes?

Do I have to list my engineering math and physics classes that aren't pre med classes as BCMP (science GPA) or could I just clump them in the overall GPA only without them affecting my science GPA?
 
you have to include them in sGPA...you won't get verified if you try to scam them
 
It doesn't really matter what way you organize them since the AMCAS checker will appropriate the classes approprotiately. If it gives you peace of mind, then go for it.
 
You could easily classify them as engineering if you don't want them factored in. Worst case scenario AMCAS will just change them for you with little to no delays.

(And yes, I know this because I did the same thing and had no problems)

That depends. Are we talking statics and dynamics type engineering physics courses or something like Physics 1, taught by engineering faculty?
 
It seems like the above responder "BigBlueBear" classified them as Engineering classes and it worked for him. The classes I'm talking about are high level math and physics classes that I had to take for engineering degree but would've never had to take for premed.

Well how are they listed on your transcript? As engineering department courses? Math department? Basket weaving department?
 
Basket weaving for sure lol what I'm saying is that it's worth a shot listing them as engineering and amcas can change it if it wants to right?

Ultimately your marking of them as science or not is just a way of speeding up the process for the AAMC. They also review your transcript and make a determination. If it says "Physics for Engineering" on your transcript, it's probably not going to fly. If it says "Engineering specialty topic" and is labeled ENGIN 401, then you could probably get away with it if you so choose.

I don't advise you to just try to get away with it. It will only slow down your application and will not work if it is obvious that they should be BCPM
 
WAIT, you LIST the classes for them to use as your GPA??? I did not know of this, i figured they get a transcript from you university..

You categorize them and they can confirm the accuracy. If they were to categorize them all manually that would add a ton of time to each application they verified

Uh... I don't mean to sound callous, but you do realize that just about every science major in the history of the world has to take upper level classes that are needed for their degree that are far beyond what is required for med school pre-reqs. And yes, they get listed as BCPM classes... because... well, they are BCPM classes. BCPM GPA is not just for your medical school prerequisites.

How the AMCAS characterizes them will probably be dependent on what department you took the courses through. For example, if you have a math class listed on your transcript as MATH550 (or whatever), I doubt you're going to get it categorized as an engineering course. If it's listed as say.... ENG550 - Advanced math for Engineers (or whatever the course might be called), then it would probably pass.
 
Go with the course labeling. Like others have said, you might get away with it if it's listed under the Engineering department.
