Do I have to take iBT again?

Hi guys,
I just got my Toefl iBT scores yesterday:

Reading:23 Listening:29 Speaking:23 Writing:24 Total:99


I graduated as a dentist in IRAN, and I've moved to the States 2 months ago. This is actually my first stay out of my country .. Anyways, after checking the Toefl iBT requirements for different Dental Schools, I found out that my scores won't meet the minimum for some universities ( For example Boston University's DMD program demands a minimum overall of 100. The minimum overall score for UCLA is 87, but my writing and speaking are both just 1 score short; the minimums for those items are 25 and 24 respectively).

I think I could've done better but I made the biggest mistake, which was taking some sample tests on paper instead of PC monitor ... my main problem with this iBT thing was not being used to staring to the cold-high-contrast monitor screen for 4 hours! So, do you think I should sit it again or just exclude those universities and go for the rest? ... I live in Boulder County,CO (30 miles from Denver) and UCSD (university of Colorado, school of dentistry) is my first chioce, and the minimum required for that is 95.

Wow, i am scared for the same... i wrote last week and am waiting for results... it says on their webpage that it takes 15 days to post the result online... i want to know if they post it before that as the wait is killing me.

Hi Winni,
It usually takes them more than 2 weeks to post the scores on your registered Toefl iBT access webpage [they say 14 working days, which would be 3 weeks actually]. I took the test on Nov.17th. and recieved the scores online, on Dec.10th. So I think you have to be patient. Good luck!

What does that mean? Late too late? I have the same sore as yours and thinking not to take it again as for me it's headache. You mean you didn't take it again, right? Did you get admission anywhere as you must have applied this year i guess ...

Hi dentalbug, my firend, you know, sometimes I think loudly, that was probably one of those moments. I actually received my score report for NBDE part 1 today, and I think now I have the basic requirements to start applying to different schools. I'm definitely not going to take Toefl again! 113 is more than I'd need in years!

Oh I'm sorry, I forgot to tell you that I took Toefl twice, the first time 99 was the best I could get, and the second time, when I was studying for NBDE, which I got 113.

I wrote toefl on may 12th and got my results -109.
I studied from princeton review.
I scored high on all sections except speaking.
I guess they dint understand my accent!!
One thing which is important during speaking is time. So make sure u conclude ur speech before the time runs out.
Writing is easy..u have lots of time to think and write so dont worry about it.
Just practice ur speaking skills.
