I'm going to a community college right now and am almost in my third year now. I've already taken math through calc I and gen chem I at the comm college... do i have to retake these classes at my 4 year in order for med schools to count it? I'm lookin to try and save as much money as possible as an undergrad so it'd be great if i could take these classes (like organic chem) at a comm college but i'd like to know what you guys think?

Answer to underlined: no.

You are fine. Since you must be near the end of the line with the CC, you must be planning to transfer to finish up at a 4 year soon...you will want to establish your cred with As at the Uni, in pre reqs, too, but if you were to take more at the CC, it won't hurt you...

i have been wondering this myself and all i have seen so far is opinions going different ways on this (like take this class at uni, not at blah, or vice versa) so i called UCSD, UCSF, UVA, Pitt, EVMS, UCI, and UCLA...all of them said it doesn't matter where you take them...furthermore, I am shadowing and researching with former admittance committee folk and they both concurred my findings...the main thing is still getting 'A's at the univ level...anyone can check ratemyprofessor.com and pick the easy ones out at the CC level...

Good for you to actually look into the matter for yourself!

The standard pre-med SDN opinion on CCs is pretty useless. In a perfect world, everyone would take every class at a 4 year, but we do not all live in a perfect world with unlimited piles of cash.

Last year an SDN poster who took all of her pre reqs at a CC got into either Stanford or UCSF (maybe it was both)...run that hypothetical by the typical SDNer and they will tell you that is impossible...
