Do I need a reapplicant essay if a school doesn't ask for one?

I'd rather re-edit my diversity essay than write a reapplicant one, thoughts?

If you haven't talked about it elsewhere then yes!! Focus on what makes your app better now than the last time you applied. [fellow reapplicant]

That all depends. if you have improved on clearly deficient areas, than it should be discussed briefly !!!!

Gotcha, I have a lot more patient contact and underserved volunteering (a few hundred hours vs a few dozen from last time).

Also two last things.

1. There's a school I'm applying to that is new to me (I didn't apply to it last year). They have an OPTIONAL essay about additional comments (not necessarily a reapplicant essay). Should I leave this one blank? That's what I'm leaning towards.
2. If I had applied to it, should I fill it in?

However, if you applying with essentially the same record, then what in the world would say? "I am applying again in hopes you dont notice how little I have done in the past year"

True, I guess I default to assuming re-applicants improve upon deficient areas, which I suppose isn't always the case. I kept mine brief when I wrote it up.

1) Blank, unless you have something of value you'd like to add
2) I would and I did use the "additional sections" for brief comments about what I did to improve my app from last time. However, @Goro seems like it is unnecessary to do so. May I ask why not? I feel like it's important to highly the improvements between apps.
