or can I get by with Kaplan book (not sure which one...biochem maybe), FA, and the old (revised) step up?

I dont think you need it. I got all that info from First Aid and from a couple of chapters in High Yield Biochem (which I was using anyway).

I used BRS Biochem and FA, but whatever source you use, make sure it covers all the BASIC information for mol. bio, and not just "clinically relevant" topics. Most of my mol. bio questions were direct basic science questions without any clinical backdrop.
