havea a poor gpa of overall about 3.03 and a science of a bout 3.2. This is with a year of post back with a gpa of 3.75. I was a physics major in college and went to a top tier two school. I have some volunteer work, and my dats are

BIO 21
QR 18
RC 18
GC 20
OC 25
PAT 19
AA 20
TS 21.

Will I get interviews at any schools, and which ones do you think.
I am applying to 31 schools. The ones I won't be applying are howard and meharry and tennessee , bascially those types of schools were you don't stand a chance unless you live there. NYU is my #1 choice and USC is #2. and marquette and creighton are up there as well as midwestern. So basically how do you think I stand at these schools as well as the others im applying. Do you think I will even get called for an interview? I really want to avoid retaking DAT as well. What schools do you think I will have a good chance at( ones above as well as ones I haven't mentioned). Please let me know your honest opinions. Remember, to keep on farting.:zip:

I think you will get in.

well you did post-bac, so that's good. Solid DATs and you're at the 3.0 cut-off mark so...i think you'll get a couple interviews and hopefully you'll get in. Do you have a state school or is your state affliated with any dental schools?

I would take nebraska off that list..they have the highest incomming gpa of any dental school.

obviously youll get in with those stats....is this a joke?? Its really scary that people with amazing stats as yourself make these posts about their chances.

read other posts with kids who have AA of 21 and 22 and similar gpas who dont get even an interview anywhere. Thats why I am asking, but what does anyone know about university of Minnesota how friendly are they to out of staters?

winchetkidJR is right. There was an applicant last year with DAT: 21,20,22 and didn't get into any of the 15 schools he/she applied to. This makes me scared cause even when a score of 21 is considered "awesome". A high score does not guarantee an acceptance.

Exactly, it takes more than a "good" DAT.

I am interested to know why NYU is your first choice? Nothing against it

Hey man, your stats are solid, I'm sure you'll get in somewhere.

However, jeez, 31 is overkill.. Might want to cut that to 20..

A lot of things you need to consider though.

Do you have a lot of volunteering? If not, drop Arizona.
Do you want to move to Canada? If not, drop Dalhousie.
Are you in state (VA or NC) or well-connected? If not, drop Virginia Commonwealth and North Carolina.

Also, beware of statswhores who are particularly looking for people with really high GPA, DAT, RC, or PAT, depending on the school, so you might want to cut some of these: Harvard, Penn, Stony Brook, Pacific, Nebraska, Case

Especially Case, ppl have said that they have an RC cut-off of 19 and sGPA cut-off of 3.4

If you really love a school, apply even if your stats aren't necessarily on par (I did with UW and UCSF), because it's all a crapshoot. But if you did take out those 10 schools, you'd have a pretty solid list of 21 schools and save yourself a lot of money and time too.

I think with your stats you have a REALLY good chance at NYU and USC, so good luck!

Lol, 31 schools. Good job though you've done your research. More schools higher probability of getting somewhere = more secondaries to do + pricey. But don't forget there's this reducation fee. I know you can not undo the undergrad gpa but your PostBac and your DAT scores are great. I wish you luck for this cycle.

what about minnesota though do they like out of state east coast kids.?

You shouldnt have any trouble getting an interview at NYU, they inteview (and accept usually) anyone that is willing to pay their rediculous tuition costs for a subpar education.

I wish they did, damn they hate out of state, which is why I didn't apply even though I really like the school. In-state for them is pretty much MN and any adjacent state: ND, SD, MT, WI, outside of those states it's pretty unlikely..

klutzy that makes no sense. everyone who applies for all they know wants to pay their tuition.
