I graduated with a BS in biochemistry in 2006 from a public/city college.
I have applied to med schools for entering classes 2006 and 2007 but not to DO schools.Took the MCAT twice, April 2006: 28R (B:10, V:10, P:8) and January 2007: 30O (B:10, V:9, P:11). My GPA overall is around 3.56, NS:3.7, S:3.42. (I did get two C's for a physiology class)

I wasn't planning to apply for this year but...
Now, do I still have a chance of getting in if I apply now?

I wouldn't try. Save your money and apply next cycle in June... you'll get in on your terms, not theirs. 👍

you would get in somewhere if you applied with those stats back in july. but if you started applying now, it would take at least a month to get everything complete. i would say your chances would be low. if your not hurting for money, go ahead and try.

but your a shoe in if you apply for 2009 and get the application in this summer.

In short, you have such a slim chance that it is not worth it. You will be wasting time and money to apply now. AACOMAS takes several weeks to verify and process, same with transcripts. Only 7 schools have a deadline that hasnt passed, but if you dont have a 45 T and 4.0, you arent going to get looked at. Wait it out and apply next year.

You would probably be in the ballpark for an MD program, your stats are actually considerably better than average for most DO programs. There are other parts of your application to consider, like convincing the adcom you will be a good doctor, have a genuine interest in medicine, care about people, can work in stressful and difficult situations, etc.

You and I have pretty similar stats (Same overall GPA. You have higher Science GPA but I have higher MCAT) and I didn't have too hard a time getting accepted. But then again, I finished my apps in January.

You may be too late now but if you apply for next cycle you would definitely have you choice of DO schools.

At this point in time, your choices are limited to 5 schools, as all of the other deadlines have passed. Unless you reeeeeally want to go to one of these 5 schools just wait till June, apply nice and early and you'll be good to go.

PNWU can be added to that list too.

But I'll echo the statements that you'd have far more choices and opportunities if you applied [early] for the next cycle.

oops, my bad. Yes, PNWU and RVUCOM both have April primary deadlines as well. Thanks 🙂

Wait.

Your stats are good, but you will need to apply early next cycle to have the best chance, depending on the rest of your app. I would look at post-bac programs, or volunteer work. Shadow a DO for a while to show adcoms that you are serious about medicine.
