So -- do I send my application out September 1st? Or do I wait the extra week it will take for the documents (transcripts/LORs) to upload into ERAS?

I dunno if anyone else has asked this either. For what it's worth, here's my thoughts.

I'd go ahead and apply Sept 1. Many programs don't review applications for a couple weeks. And some stop downloading applications altogether after they reach a certain number or after they fill their interview slots.

So, it probably won't matter if your application is incomplete when you submit it. This way you'll be higher on their list and at least know they'll look at you... if that makes sense.

Anyone can correct me if my thinking is flawed.

Along the same lines...I've heard some programs stop reviewing applications after they've decided to interview X number of applicants. Is this common? If it happens does it usually happen early vs late in the season? Probably hard to say...

All my scores are released ... but the 2 most important LOR's I have arrived on August 12th & August 16th. ECFMG is STILL scanning those documents received on August 9th (it's been like a week already..c'mon people!)
My transcript arrived there August 11th.

I apologize in advance if this has been asked already!

A week probably doesn't make a difference.

At the more selective programs this can happen. However, AFAIK there is no large sample evidence documenting this phenomenon.

Thanks for the reply. I'm so confused b/c I've also been told that more selective programs tend to wait for MSPEs to be released before sending out invites?

If you assign an lor to the schools you apply to on sept 1st but don't assign your personal statement, will they still consider granting you an interview or do you have to have a personal statement for the school?

It would be completely up to the program. Perhaps they will. Perhaps not. Why risk it, and just submit a PS?

So suggestions on whether I should submit. Currently my letters of recommendations have not been received except one and hopefully should 3 others by the end of the week.Should I risk it and submit later and improve my personal statement or just submit my application tomorrow without my LORs? I want to apply to pediatrics, D.O. student, below average Comlex I score, but scored above average and about 140 points better on Comlex 2. What do you think? Wait for LORs or just submit?

I don't think it matters. Many programs are not going to review your application until you have some minimum number of letters in. And, if your letters are going to be in over the next week, whether you apply Sept 1 or Sept 15 isn't going to matter.

none of my letters are in yet, they should all be up within a couple weeks...should I submit on sept 1.

I have the appropriate letters assigned to the programs, so once they come in--they will just download them to review the applicatoin right?

Im in the same situation...Should we apply on Sept 1 or just wait a week or so to have a more complete application.

September 1st is opening day, not a deadline. You can submit that day and add documents or you can wait a bit and submit everything at once without affecting your degree of consideration at most programs. Do whichever makes you feel better about the process.
