For those of you in the NY metropolitan area, ABC Eyewitness News does a piece with Dr. Jay Adelsberg that points out different aspects of medicine and health. Tonight, during this segment, Dr. Jay interviewed a vascular surgeon who was a DO and is performing a new type of "roto-rooter" procedure for occluded blood vessels. I was incredibly pumped after seeing this and thought I'd share it with my fellow DO lovers. :D

It's some new type for peripheral vasculature. They showed an animation with this neat little nose cone thing that scoops up all the plaque that builds up.

That is pretty cool. Do you know the name of it? I would think that procedure along with the new "synthetic HDL" drug being studied would be great for all those plaque-filled arteries out there...
