My fiancee and I chose a DO school because it gave us an opportunity to pursue a Masters Degree (non-thesis) in Medical Science while ensuring that we would both get admittance to the same medical school. I feel that my academic record will help me get interviews but concerned that being a DO will significantly reduce my chances of matching.
USMLE Step 1 256, top 10% of class, may or may not have research in Leukemia as a 4th year.
Applying to CA, CO, TX, OK, MO, AL, GA, NC, VA, DC/Baltimore area, and Philadelphia totaling 33 programs. May include KS, UT, OR, WA, and TN. With my situation, is this set of programs too limited? Other than Henry Ford, for which other programs would I be competitive or are DO friendly? Should I take USMLE Step 2 prior to interviews?
