How often in interviews for DO school does the question of "Why do you want to be a DO?" come up and how are you prepared to answer the question?

Uhhhh..... You need to treat that question like it is going to be asked all the time so you need to prepare for it and think why YOU want to be a DO. Also I don't recommend just giving general statements about the philosophy or quotes from "The DO". Relate it to you.

I have a few reasons. But how do I know if my reasons will be enough for the adcom to consider me serious about it? Will one solid reason suffice? At what point will the adcom know that I mean what I say?

Why do you guys even ask this? You know what the answer is, and you also know that you won't get it unless the applicant is either extremely honest, ignorant, or both. So what's the point in asking the question? What are you even looking for?

It's like asking why we put 15 decorative pillows on beds. It's just a formality.
