So here's my deal, I'm a PA student in her last few rotations, but during the past year I have realized that while I am completely happy I went to PA school (and not guilty for taking the slot, there were quite a few attritions that should feel far more guilt, trust me) that my true calling is medical school. I have realized this through my rotations, that as many years of experience as I get as a PA it will never compare to the training a residency provides in all areas of a specialty. Anyways my degree is a BS in PA studies, and my gpa ios right now a 3.599 should be bang on a 3.6 when I'm done for sure. Anyways my major shortcoming is my science gpa, I have a C+ in organic 1, C+ in biochem, I had a C+ in trig in my freshman year.. and CRINGE a C in gross anatomy which is *I* think, the worst since if anything would have proved myself it would ahve been an A in that class, I have my excuses as everyone does for their not so hot grades (mom sick the summer i took biochem and gross) but blah blah, no one cares, not you or adcoms. 😛
Anyways all the rest of my classes are a few B's and the rest all A's, I've had all A's in my PA classes and rotations (for th last 2 years). I ahve a few pre reqs left to complete, i plan to start working as a PA and complete them part time. So my questions is this should I take the august mcat and just get the last pre reqs while going through the process, or should i beef up that science gpa with more hard sciences and maybe retake organic 1 and biochem and wait for the next cycle? Any thoughts? I guess no harm done if i take the mcat this year and apply and dont get in i'll just reapply. I don't know I feel kinf of stuck between making my applications much better and waiting a year and just taking a shot this year and seeing what happens.

Any advice?

You'll probably do better on the MCAT if you complete all of your science prereq's before taking the exam. The MCAT is essentially a comprehensive exam that is based on those 8 courses (bio, chem, org, phys) plus the verbal section.

Also, I don't think you need to repeat biochem whatsoever. If you still haven't taken Org II, you may want to repeat Org I. But if you got an A or B in Org II, I don't think this is necessary either.

Honestly, I think that applying this year with a weak application and (due to lack of pre-reqs) a weak MCAT score would be an incredible waste of time and money. Unless you are independently wealthy or have parents who like to light their cigars with $100 bills, why not wait a year and do it right?
