Hello all!
I posted a little over a month ago with my stats and ultimately decided that I would apply to both MD/DO schools this upcoming cycle. However, I was in the middle of searching for a DO physician to shadow when everything started locking down because of COVID-19. My question is what is the latest that I'll be able to submit a letter of recommendation from a DO or should I just apply to schools that do not require a DO letter which are very few? Thank you for any and all input.

You have time. For DO schools applying in October, and even sometimes November tends to be acceptable.

Most schools actually don’t require a DO LOR to be considered for an interview. This isn’t to say that it wouldn’t be helpful.

Many (maybe most) schools require a physician LOR (DO or MD).

DO shadowing, specifically with direct observation of OMM, is helpful in and of itself.

I had only shadowed one MD physician, but that was a while ago so I feel like they wouldn't be able to write the best letter for me. I was hoping to shadow a DO physician soon so that I would be fresh in their mind when writing a letter.
