Not sure, but either way that is just asking to get your car broken into and/or sued

How do you go from license plates of doctors, to whether or not DO's are actually doctors/went to medical school?

Outstanding. 👍

HA HA HA... I'm not sure about the rest of you, but the only reason I'm going to (osteopathic) MEDICAL SCHOOL is so I can have a really cool license plate and brag about how I went to MEDICAL SCHOOL to all the people I meet. Oh, and i'm so ashamed of the fact that I went to an (osteopathic) MEDICAL SCHOOL, that I'll just hide that fact FOREVER!!!:scared:

I'm really wondering how many of the folks here on SDN are even for real...😎

Maybe people are having too much eggnog...

Agreed! And this one coming just after the MD vs DO one was closed in pre-allo.... Maybe it's time for the mods to create an entrance test to make sure people read A SLIGHT BIT prior to posting...

Yup you have to read the sticky threads at the top of a forum and pass the correlating "quiz" to post in the thread. I like it 😀

OP here is a VERY brief summary...

I agree. Maybe a SDN assessment exam for every profile created.👍

Well thanks for the help.

Real honest to goodness homemade eggnog that is plenty noggy and warm is really really fabulous. And generally speaking i *hate* eggnog... but homemade warm noggy eggnog... mMMMMmmmmmmMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....................

When I become a doctor and get all rich and famous I'm gonna hit up the clubs with one of these:

In all seriousness just to answer the question:

DOs are full and complete doctors, equiped and capable of doing the exact same thing as MDs. The amount of difference between MD and DO is almost nothing.

As far as license plates go... this depends on the city/county you're in as well as the hospital you work at.

I don't know. I don't see any good that comes from having those plates either way.

I think it's crunch time as those MD acceptances aren't forthcoming and folks are starting to panic.......... although that doesn't explain some of these questions though.

Yeah I am kinda curious about the plates... I've seen MD plates but never DO plates. They must have them!

Thats why I went DO in the first place! The awesome super cool, better than MD, license plates! Duhhhhh!

OP....wtf?

I'm not sure which is funnier, the original post or the idiots who answer him seriously.

Maybe there should be an "entertainment" thread that these things get corralled into...

If its anything like pre-allo, it will eventually get thrown into the "all students forum" when it becomes too off topic, which is essentially the thread graveyard.

My state offers PRE-DO plates. I've had them for about two years now. RESPEK!

The heck is a "pre-DO"? A pre-medical student who wants to go to a DO medical school or a medical student currently in a DO medical school? I ask because your status is pre-med and I certainly hope it's not the former, lol.

Oh yes, you can roll with the pre-DO plates early. requirements to apply for the plates are: enrollment—at least half time—in a minimum of two basic undergraduate science prerequisite courses or when you've told at least two people you have intentions to matriculate into an osteopathic school, which ever comes first.

People at first think your just some average a-hole in an average a-hole car but then they see your plates as you cut them off on the freeway and they think, "Hey you a-hole!...oh, oh, hold on a minute...this guy might be a dentist some day...go ahead buddy" and then his passenger says, "Uh, no, I think DO means he's gonna be a chiropractor." And that's why I have a custom frame around my plates that explains just what the DO is.
😉

Yep, I bet it will say something about AT Still and how MD's treat only treat symptoms instead of people!"

That is absolutely insane. I'm jealous.

Meh, what more can you expect from a state run by a former action star.

License plates for doctors, seriously? WOW!!! OMG. Yeah, I totally, totally am aiming for medical school just so I can put that license plate on my jalopy (okay so maybe I'm reaching, but who knows with the current state of healthcare, insurance companies, malpractice, and the list goes on). Seriously, I mean really, come on.....

Alright, all joking aside, I don't know if I really want to identify my vehicle as that belonging to a physician, because here's a scenario when you don't stop to render aid at an accident. "Hey Flo, did you just see that doctor go whizzing by?" "Why yes, Herb, yes I did." "WTF? Didn't he see we're injured here?" "He must have, and I got his plate number, I'm giving it to Frank Azar first thing (one of the TV Lawyers that always has annoying commercials on) when we start the proceedings against the jerk that hit us." "Yeah, good thinking, we should be able to get the 'Strong Arm' to help us out and we'll sue the doctor for 1 million dollars just for not stopping and checking on us" Meanwhile, I'm driving to the hospital in a hurry because I just got called in on an emergent case with a real patient waiting in the ER.

Oh, and here we issue those big EASY buttons to all Pre-Med students (hmmm....darn it I guess I don't get one because I'm Pre-DO for many reasons).

Moderator: Please, please delete this thread.
