Hello everyone,

So I am getting ready to apply this cycle except I have one big shadow looming over me...

Im not sure if I will have a strong DO LOR.. I know most schools require one.
I can ask a DO that I currently work with, but Im not sure this will be the strongest letter.

Advice? Has anyone applied with no DO LOR and received an acceptance?

I know a few that have. im sure plenty of people have applied with no DO LOR and got an acceptance. I do not know if that is common or uncommon however. Would try though.

Some schools will accept you under the condition you shadow a DO before classes start

Even if it's a generic LOR, it's better than no LOR. it says to us that you went the extra mile to at least find and talk to a DO.

would a generic LOR hurt my application?

I would attempt to do something to possibly make you stand out? Unless the attitude of the physician you are shadowing would represent a generic LOR regardless of how you present yourself.

Find another physician, maybe?

i had DO LOR only one MD LOR ( it was just average not too special) and i gotten 2 interviews. you should still ask for letter as stated above few times.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Ill let you know how it goes!
