This might be a bit of a paranoid question, but I beg you to forgive me. My DO is sending my letter to the pre-med committee at my school, and they mail out my LOR's as a packet. I believe they said they do a cover letter based on the interview, and then attach my individual LOR's to this. So if they attach the DO letter, will some schools not realize this and then say my app is incomplete because it didn't come seperately? Or will they look through the letters? Or should I call the schools to let them know that my DO letter is attached with the committee letter?

they shouldn't have a problem with that at all.

yes, I had this problem with one school this application cycle. If you haven't heard back from them in a while, call to make sure they know your d.o. letter is included in your committee letter packet.

Most admissions committees should be able to tell that the institutional evaluation packet of letters contains your D.O. professional reference letter.

It's not the admisisions committee you have to worry about. It's the office staff person who marks the checklist on the first page of your file-- not recording a check in the "DO letter" category-- and throws your folder back on the "Incomplete" stack. So...nothing happens as your file sits there for months. The admissions office at a med school is just like the office of any business on Earth. They all make mistakes. It's best to check up on it if you have any doubts, or if it's been a while with no response.
