This is sadly the reality of P/F level/step 1. but I agree with the above poster your best chance is former AOA programs do as many rotations as possible. You need to realize as a DO your chances of matching at your local state university program are very small this is something that most DO students do not realize until they are applying and get no interviews from any of these programs. Every year there are one or two DOs that match at great MD caliber programs but these are students who are matching absolutely next level either ton of research crazy boards or taking a huge gamble and doing 5+ auditions at MD places.
Also, keep in mind class of 2025/2024 DO will see a huge increase in DO students without a dramatic increase in former AOA spots so it is only going to get harder.
