does anyone have any experience with this situation? i'm trying to register for July 2 test date, but they are all booked at my location options. i've heard that seats tend to open up closer to the test date, but is this common? or usually just luck? any personal experience with this?

my common sense tells me no, I barely signed up for the september MCAT, I think you should book your seat at least 2-3 months in advance, I'd call the AAMC people or whatever to make sure

I actually am having a similar problem so I signed up for a test center 2 hours away...a real pain.

I took the May 1st MCAT and am waiting for my scores. I am hoping others also signed up in anticipation of needing to retake and will cancel their test when they hear they did well. I am hoping I am one of those people, but not counting on it!

Basically, since I know I signed up without knowing whether or not I will take it, I am sure others did too. I am guessing a good date for you to look for open seats would be june 2nd, the date may1st and 2nd MCAT takes are meant to get their scores.

Hope that helps!

Probably not, its really just based on seats in the center, and April-June is a pretty bad time to be trying to sign up for the MCAT because you also have a ton of MS2s trying to sign up for the USMLE, plus all the other random grad stuents, etc that are taking tests.

Try callign the center directly, a few of my classmates tried that and they were offered an empty disability room that wasn't being used for $100. Seems extremely sketchy to me and probably varies by site, but it may help you.

I had a very difficult time getting a late august date and had to settle for Sept 4, and I booked a few weeks ago. There are even 2 centres in my city, but they were all full.
