It's difficult to make Colonel. You get to Lt. Colonel by putting in the years.

I think it's so cool that this website was created from osteopathic.com (not .org).

I won't say that DO>MD, but individual physicians can make it so 🙂 I will say that Western U is pretty impressive, and has some distinguished alumni.

The other night my wife and I were reading in bed and she has been raving about this particular book for days. So I finally decided to glimpse it over and it was written by a DO from Western. No big deal but I though it was a nice "small world" moment considering we will be matriculating over there.
 
I think a lot of patients/people don't know what a DO is because there aren't that many compared to MDs. There's roughly 140 MD schools and 29 DO schools (with a total of 33 in location).
Not to mention, most MD schools are associated with undergrad universities. Everyone has heard of Harvard, Yale, UNC, Penn State, U Miami, etc. These schools are known for undergrad, but also have medical schools.

DO schools don't have this (for the most part, with the exception of a few like MSU, Nova, Rowan, etc.). But why aren't universities like Harvard, Yale, etc. creating DO programs? They only have MD programs.

I think if DO programs expanded, and were affiliated with prestigous and/or popular schools, the word of osteopathic medicine will be spread, and more people will recognize DOs.

I just got into an MD school today, so I hope to become at least as good as the DO I aspired to become. 🙂

Hopefully, I can make MD=DO?

Lest I feel hypocritical about choosing MD over DO, I will forever endeavor to be the MD who advocates for the further de-stigmatization of DO's.
