DO/MD LOR question

I worked closely on a research project with a visiting MD/PhD scientist from China for a couple of months. Project ran out of money so it never got published. He is willing to write me a strong LOR for medical school.

My question is that since he is a practicing orthopedic surgeon in China, does his letter satisfy the physician letter requirement for DO schools?

Not happy with it, but I've seen plenty of LORs from MD PIs.

If schools ask for a letter from a DO then get a DO letter. This would make a great LOR but would not meet the requirement of a DO letter.
