Each medical school requires its own set of courses to submit an application.
Most schools’ pre-medical requirements can be met by the following courses: • 2semesters of general/inorganic chemistry with lab • 2semesters of organic chemistry with lab • 2semesters of general physics with lab • 2semesters of biology with lab • 1semester of English with a focus on writing
Manyschools also require additional courses. While these may not be mandatory for other schools’ applications, they will cover important material for the MCAT: • 2semesters of math related courses (calculus, statistics) • 1semester of biochemistry • 1semesterofmolecularbiology/genetics(inadditiontothebiologyrequirement) • 1semester of sociology • 1semester of psychology
I dont think your assumption that 90% schools dont need orgo2 lab is necessarily true.
I would definitely take it, to prevent from being restricted later. It is usually worth 1 credit , so not a huge academic burden. Plus, understanding some of the organic chemistry lab scenarios may help you on the MCAT.
