Do most physicians end up getting a job (either at a hospital or private practice) at or near the hospital in which they did residency, or do a lot of people move? I'm wondering because I have no idea where I'm going to do residency, but I'd really like to start living "real-life" (when I FINALLY start working) in the northeast, where my entire life is (friends, family, boyfriend, etc.).
If you move, how do you go about getting a job? Is it much like getting a regular job (interviewing, etc.)? Or is it ALL about connections? How does one enter a private practice if you move somewhere new? I'm totally in the dark here (I'm only in MS-II but I tend to worry about things in the distant future....)
