Well if they do, it's 2 more years of MD education, rather than the full 4.

But yeah, intersting question, I'm not sure the answer to it.

They definitely pay tuition for MS2 and 3 here. I'm not sure about MS4 since they are on the OMFS service for many of the 4th year rotations, but I wouldn't be surprised if they had to pay for it.

The OMFS docs I know could pay 6-8 years of loans back in only a few months of working.

I got upper/lower jaw surgery a few years ago. I paid them more for a three hour operation than half the value of my new Honda Accord....

The 6 year dual degree md/dds have a varying amount of time in med school...from 14 months to 2 years

Some programs have you pay for it, others give a stipend or continue your resident salary, and some reimburse for certain grades...it's really variable

It most certainly is! Most guys I know are shooting for the programs that offer low tuition or pay strong stipends to help offset the cost. UTSW/Parkland and Mayo appear to have the most financially-considerate arrangements for their residents - these also happen to be some of the most competitive programs to get into.
