DO ortho programs w/ initial accred, which 2018 match??

According to the AOA opportunities website (which I think is fairly up to date...) there are 8 AOA programs that have initial acgme accreditation. I'm confused on the process, but I think those 8 programs are allowed to enter either the AOA or the ACGME match (is this right??). Also, does anyone know which programs will be participating in which match?

Best bet would be for you to email/call the program coordinators which match they'll be doing. I assure you they'll go over that information during interviews as well. Good luck.

Would be interested in hearing what programs have said about their match plans. Please keep us informed if you hear from any programs.

The programs choose which match, at this point they should not be allowed to match anyone (thru AOA or ACGME match) without initial accred is my understanding. @hallowmann can clarify or second.

At AOAO this year the PDs that were in attendance for the student meeting, which included a few of the initially accredited programs made it seem as if they were all going to continue using the AOA match until it was no longer possible for them to do so. Some said they may interview some MD candidates through the ACGME match to 'get a feel' for the kind of applicants/applications they'd be receiving post-merger. Given the audience of hopeful DO ortho applicants, no guarantees.
