I was just wondering if most people actually do take all of their time and wait until the May 15th deadline to narrow it down to one school.

I'm waiting for financial aid. Which hasn't arrived yet. Or my #1 to accept me. Have I basically made up my mind? Yes, but financial aid (however unlikely) could change that.

I even feel bad because I probably could have withdrawn a lot sooner if they would hurry up and confirm my thoughts about finances.

Would be stupid not to if you don't have all your financial aid numbers in hand... What happens if you withdraw earlier? someone gets a spot earlier, as opposed to a few weeks later?

No reason to feel sorry about anyone on the waitlist. You've worked your ass off to get to where you are. Drop the social niceties and make sure you're looking out for no one but yourself. But, that's just me.

I'm still waiting on financial aid, but I have a pretty good idea where I'm going.

Remember that most schools over accept (I've heard up to as much as 50%), so one drop doesn't always mean they'll replace that spot.

I decided far before the deadline but financial details that came later on changed everything...I'd guess people wait for similar reasons.

I did. I held onto everything until just 2 days ago since i got all my fin aid packages. Its dumb to let go until you see fin aid imo unless you know you will hate the school and not attend no matter what. For most (at least me) I liked near everywhere i interviewed at and left money to decide. Now im down to one WL and one acceptance if it makes you happy😉

I think a better question is: "Do schools wait until May 15th to pick from their waitlist?" In general, I think most schools wait.

Well the school I am trying to get in to has already gone through a good part of the upper third of their waitlist. So I know the answer to that question, at least for my situation.
