Do people get in with IF?

I got one IF on my transcript and this is driving me crazy. My stupid college uses IF as the ONLY notation when assigning incomplete grades. And AMCAS considers IF as an F...

This IF or "F" lowers my overall GPA by 0.15, making it 3.64. Now I'm not even sure if I can get into my own state school. The average GPA of applicants applying to my state school is 3.78... it's so hard to be average 😡

What was it in? and more importatnly did you make it up right away? Most colleges drop the I grade if made up the next semester the class is open.

It was Differential Equations 🙁
I retook the course immediately and got an A.

The problem is that AMCAS takes both IF and A into account when calculating GPA... that's ******ed

What's also ******ed is that I'm a physiology major and I was actually stupid enough to take an upper level math class for no good reason.

I wouldn't worry much about it. You got an A, so you have shown you can master the material. I had more than one F (albeit 10 years ago) and some D's. I just got in. It's doable. 🙂

I got an IC in my research class this semester, because we had to work some kinks out in my project bef ore i couldwriteit up and present it. I think after I do that my school changes my grade to whatever the professor thinks I deserve, hopefully an A.

Is amcas going to count my incomplete as an F also, eventhough it wanst really my fault?

I can answer this. If it's shown as IC and eventually changes to IA, then AMCAS only counts it as an A, not as both F and A.
Only IF and F are considered as an F 🙁
