I recently interviewed for an MSTP position. I am interested in completing it, but I am not completely sure I want to take part in the program for the sake of timing with my significant other who is only going the medical school route.

What happens if I am accepted into the program, but choose to go the medical school route, without the PhD? Will the school and professors look down upon me for doing so, especially since the director is a professor at the school?

Who cares what other people think. Only do the PhD if you really want to. You don't need a PhD to have your own lab.

I edited my original post. If someone has experience in this decision, it'd be helpful because regardless of what happens, I would like to end up at this school and I do not when the professor or administrators to look down upon me for forgoing the mstp route.

They are obviously going to care, but they are not going to ruin your career or anything. It's not a huge deal. The administration wants you to.succeed. There are literally only a handful of DO/PhDs and doubt any of them hang out here. You should post in the allopathic forum if you haven't already.

They will care, yes. However do what you have to do. Even if they are annoyed/have to scramble it's not like they can permanently "blacklist" you if you excel in your other program.
