Do well on the MCAT.

Your GPA numbers aren't great, but they're very close to mine. I have 6 years of clinical experience (working in an osteopathic clinic, and then at a hospital). I have received interviews, and am hoping to get in somewhere, and I'm pretty sure that it was my MCAT (34R) score that is being weighed heavily in making up for my poor GPA. So if you can manage to do well on the MCAT, you should at least have a decent shot. Good luck!

read the pre-osteo FAQ to see what classes are counted under science GPA and also the policy on retakes. 2.8 is around the area for cutoffs so be sure your GPA is not less than that.

You'll probably do fine, especailly if you have a compelling, "Why DO?" personal statement.

Light a fire under the MCAT, apply early and broadly!

hard to say but osteopathic schools are known for being receptive of nontrads/career swirchers.

NYCOM has an emigre program so we have at least 10% of students with a Doctorate level degree.

It's been a long time since I have filled out AACOMAS but do they even count a grad school GPA towards your cumulative?? If not, you GPA is below the cutoff for many schools & you may be slightly limited in the schools that you will be able to fill out secondaries for let alone interview.

Be sure to mention how you think it was very irresponsible of DD Palmer to steal AT Stills ideas & pass them off for his own. That would be an interesting conversation in an interview.

Just a word of advice from someone who's been "around the osteopathic block" = make sure you check your ego at the door before going back to school. There are already too many D.O's with inferiority complexes. Frankly, it's embarrassing to those of us who don't struggle in that way. Good luck.

It's my undestanding that your grad school GPA will weigh in more heavily than undergrad. I know most of the MD/DO schools I applied to weighed your science GPA much more heavily than overall GPA.

I think most MCAT avgs for DO programs are around a 25, so shoot for that and you should have a good shot.

If you do ok on the MCAT and have a good ps you'll have a good shot.
However, I would work on typing without Capitalizing The First Letter Of Every Word. 😉

One other thing you might face is the fact that your undergrad gpa is so old. Most if not all schools require any science courses and grades to be less than five years old. You might have to retake all of the required courses. Id check with the schools you might wanna apply to before taking the mcat otherwise you may just be wasting money....

The grad GPA counts as Grad GPA, they dont count it to your cum GPA. I have masters degree they did not count it as cum.

There's a chiropractor in my PBL group this semester. He's a pretty knowledgeable guy, especially with anatomy. It's also a lot of fun to talk to him during OMM lab because he has some pretty useful ideas sometimes, since he has performed a lot of similar treatments. He's a really good diagnostician, possibly because he has a good bit of "hands-on" experience.
