Do post-bac applicants really only need ONE letter of recommendation?

I am reading several guidelines saying that post-bac applicants at a program with a pre-health advisory committee need only submit a letter of recommendation from this committee? Otherwise, you need about 2-3 letters of recommendation from faculty?

I find it surprising that you would only need ONE letter of recommendation for a med school application, but that appears to be the case!
