Hi everyone,

I'm planning to apply to med school next summer. I graduated in 2006, so by the time of my application some of my prereqs will be 4-8 years old. However, I have recently taken some science courses as well as the MCAT, and done very well in both. I'll be taking classes up to my application.

I am assuming that for the most part, I don't need to repeat any pre-reqs (I have a high undergrad GPA from an Ivy League school)? I know the only way to be safe is to check with all schools, but just wondering if anyone knows of general guidelines for this.

Thanks for your help!

For most schools, no expirations on prereqs. But there are a few. I think for UMASS the prereqs have to be done in the last six years. Make sure you look at the admissions websites of every school you apply to.

Even if the school has expirations, I'd call their admissions office directly and ask about waivers. I know for instance people with advanced science degrees (science PHDs, etc.) can often acquire expiration waivers.
