Do pre-reqs have to be finished before applying or before matriculating?

I have the core science prerequisites finished, but each school also has additional ones as well. Some require Psych/Humanities, some require Biochem or Genetics, etc...

Is it to our advantage to have them all before applying? Can we take some of these Reqs after applying? Would it be fine if we got them all in before matriculating?

I think I recall UC Davis requiring pre-reqs to be complete by the calendar year before matriculation. I'm not sure if they still do that or not. That's the only exception I can think of.

Historically, Penn State, Cornell, Temple, Wake, Vanderbilt, Columbia, and VCU have been reported by SDNers as having an earlier timeframe for completion of requirements. Check them out in case things have changed.
