Hey Guys

Just interested to see which are the best DO schools and whether there was a ranking chart out there somewhere

As of today, I have never heard or seen a chart that ranks osteopthic medical schools. However, that should not matter. The rankings of any graduate school, in my honest opinion, are bullcrap. The only thing you should worry about now is how to get into ANY medical school. Once you garner multiple acceptances, then worry about which school is better suited for your aspirations of becoming a doctor...not which school is simply better.

Ok, I just thought they ranked them. Don't know anything about DO schools. Just thought it would be interesting to see.

lotrfan81,

I thoguht the same thing when I was applying until I realized that it really doesnt matter which medical school you go to. IMHO, except in extreme cases, residency programs care more about how you did on the standardized boards, your clinical letters, and research. Now granted, thats just what I've "heard" not "seen" directly...but I think I'm fairly correct on this. Any others want to weigh in?

Also, as has been discussed elsewhere on this board, the rankings for allopathic schools are mainly taking into account how much money the NIH (National Institutes of Health) gives the schools for research. While some may consider this an important way to rank schools, I don't. Its really up to your own opintions and how the school "feels" to you.

There have been ~some~ kind of rankings on here in regards to MCAT scores but I believe that it is fairly outdated. Try a search.

Good luck!
