I only found one thread on this in the search and it wasn't very conclusive. For those of you who have filled out the AMCAS w/ research credits, did it count towards your science GPA or just your overall GPA? They show up on my transcript as BIOL 499 (for research done in the biology department). My other BIOL classes count.

Typically, independent research or research under a PI is not given a grade, just pass/fail... and that won't go into your GPA unless you fail it.

Yes. If it's listed on your transcript as a Bio course, and you get a grade, it will count in your BCMP GPA.

Oh, and...SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!

Seriously? That's great news, if it's true. I've taken 30 credits in scientific research for a real letter grade, and that 4.0 might boost my sGPA from a 3.7X (whatever it is right now) to at least a 3.9!

I included my research in BCMP GPA, and AMCAS ate it up.
