Although It hought I knew the answer to this question, many people keep second-guessing me (perhaps because they hate that my answer is true, but who knows).
I am a MS-III DO student at a school in PA. DOs in PA (and a few other states), have to do that mandatory "rotating internship" year or have it incorporated into their DO residency in order to get licensed in PA.
I plan on doing a family medicine residency in NY, a state that does not require this "rotating internship year for DOs". Now am I correct in saying that if I match at an MD FM residency in NY, I simply graduate medical school, do the three-year residency in NY, and am then a fully licensed physician in NY? Also, let's say I get board certified after my residency in NY. If I decide to move to PA, would I have to go back and do this "DO rotating internship" in order to get licensed in that state?
Thanks very much!
