I am trying to move out-of-state for personal reasons, and I was wondering if it is difficult to get interviews at out of state programs. I have noticed anecdotally and looking up people's profiles that most people tend to match in-state. Would it be a bad idea to apply to almost exclusively out of state prelims/TYs?

bro, just apply to all the programs you can, then cancel interviews as needed

I got more out of state and did intern year out of state.

However, that likely happened due to the fact that there are simply more intern year programs that exist out of state than in the state I was located at the time.

most of mine this year were from my home state (different from where I went to med school). Definitely better to apply broadly because they're competitive
