Hey everyone,
I'm new to the forum. Looking for some honest opinions. I have read through many forums about osteopathic medicine but am still torn, how is the DO route for Canadians in comparison to the Caribbean? Any advice from Canadians or US students who know Canadian DO students would be great.

Hey I am a Canadian (somewhat of a premed). I had planned to pursue medicine throughout high school and then I got into the biology program at university... didn't really enjoy biology but I felt that I would still enjoy being a doctor as it has a lot of problem solving. I talked to a D.O. Canadian student on SDN and asked them about the prospects and what not. So I decided to sacrifice my GPA by changing majors to Math/Phys and pursuing the DO route (hopefully) so that I can both enjoy my undergrad, develop problem solving skills and maybe, in the future, get into an osteopathic school, become a doctor and problem solve, rather than bash my head against the wall throughout undergrad because I didn't like my program just to get into an MD school with a high GPA and be totally burnt out... or I think I would feel that way.
So I don't think it is a bad idea for us Canadians to consider the Osteopathic route, especially if you are in my situation.
My $0.02.

Make sure to take a look at the practice restrictions that some canadian provinces (I think that is the correct term?) have for DOs...I will try and find the link for you if you haven't looked already.

Some of my classmates were aghast when the physiology professor pulled out V=I*R to talk about membrane potentials. They thought they would never see physics again. You'll love it. And admissions committees will like that you switched to a major you enjoyed rather than doing what was 'needed' (in pre-med mythologies) to get in.
