I understand that board scores are indiviual-dependent rather than school dependent. However, I just want to know which DO school produce the highest average board scores.

Thanks.

It will be hard to get an exact score from each school. You're more likely to get a pass rate from each one.

I can tell you that my class average on Step 1 at VCOM was around 530.

MU-COM has the absolute lowest failure rate, if that helps

😉

If you had looked this up, you'd have realized that schools neither record this nor openly advertise their average scores. That being said, you're likely going to see higher scores and better residency placements at institutes with higher admissions criteria.

DMU gave us this info for their classes of the last 7 years, I believe.

DMU pass rate on COMLEX Level 1 in 2012 = 96% (nationally, 92%)
DMU average Score on COMLEX Level 1 = 528 (nationally, 515)

DMU pass rate on USMLE Step 1 in 2011 = 95.6% (MD nationally, 94%; DO nationally, 81%)

I don't know how that compares to others. There are these "two-digit score" metrics that I don't understand that they've included too. I hope that helps!

Yea the pass rates for AZCOM for both usmle and comlex are identical to that of DMU (atleast thats what the paper at my interview said). I think OP wants the highest average scores though. Not just average pass rate. Not sure if this info is readily available.

OP, I would wager though, that schools that have a higher first time pass rate ( like the two mentioned above) also have higher average scores. Just a hypothesis though.

LECOM-B had a 566 for 2012 with 1 failure in a class of 150ish. We were told that was the highest avg ever.

This. Don't believe anyone who says "My school" or "XYZ school" has the highest average. There's no way they actually know that to be true.

Actually the schools get a report that lets them know their avg and where it fits in the DO landscape. So if they tell you that then it's probably not a lie unless they feel the need to lie to their students. I would bet those schools would just be really vague and skirt the issue though.

Everyone will say things that are in their best interest especially if they know that nobody can prove they are lying.

How is my school telling me that in their best interest? The school has no reason to lie to me about this, i'm already here and not going anywhere. And what reason do I have to lie? I'm doing quite well in my program and hope to do equally well on the boards. Whether or not the class avg is first or last has no effect on me since I anticipate being above avg anyway. I couldn't care less whether LECOM has the best or worst students in the future. I hope that they do well with the classes after mine, but i'm not going to cry for them if the wheels come off the bus.

That's pretty high, that means the average LECOM-B student is capable of matching AOA ortho with high confidence.

they didnt give the USMLE average?

they didnt give the USMLE average?

Maybe they did, but I didn't understand the format they gave it in. It was something about a two-digit score or something. I didn't know what to make of it so I left it out.

There is a conversion. Do u know it off hand?

Can confirm what gatorfann said. 566 was the class avg for lecom-b

DO schools will tell you comlex stats but those don't matter.

Most places won't disclose, and oftentimes won't bother to discover, average USMLE scores which is what really matters.
