Any assistance in modifying my school list would be greatly appreciated. VA resident, non-traditional applicant.

Stats:
3.06 cumulative, 3.52 science from 190 credits.
Last 120 hours, of which I completed all of the prereqs, 3.31 cumulative, 3.57 science. Awaiting MCAT scores, likely around 28 with 7-8PS/10-11VR/9-11BS. I realize the large spread and the difficulty this creates.

A lot of ECs. Mainly: volunteer FF for 10 years; career FF/PM at FD for 6 years; flight paramedic for 2 years.

Under served population experience: 2 years in rural EMS while undergrad in Southwest Virginia; part time on neo/peds retrieval team for 2 years in Washington, DC while full time with FD.

Wife works with Native American populations for a company with main offices in Colorado and Washington. Has worked with a lot of tribes in Maine, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Washington...hence the desire to apply to those campuses.

Schools:
AZCOM/MWU
CUSOM
DMU
LMU-DCOM
OSU-COM
PCOM
PNWU-COM
RVUCOM
TUCOM-CA
UNECOM
UP-KYCOM
VCOM-All
Western U/COMP
WVUSOM

Thanks to all for the assistance.

Looks like a good list,. Unless you live in New England, I suggest skipping UNECOM. Don't forget Western/Corvallis.

I think OSU has a large in-state/regional bias FYI.

What about NYIT, NSU, KCUMB? I know your cGPA is low, but your ECs might be able to help.

Thank you for your help, Goro. Since I am applying to 9/13 schools west of St. Louis, maybe our paths will unknowingly cross one day.

I'm aware of the regional bias...which is understandable. Two reasons why I am looking at their school: 1)I like the area and perhaps most importantly, 2)in looking at the overall indebtedness of their most recent graduates, I think not applying would fall into the penny-wise but pound-foolish category for me.

Balked at NYIT and NSU because my family and I are looking to get back to a more rural area. I will probably nix PCOM from this list for that very reason.

Not applying to KCUMB because the boss said "I don't want to live in Kansas City." Medical school and residency will be hard enough on our relationship...no need to completely stack the deck against us.

Gotcha.

Honestly, I skipped the last paragraph about the wife. Sorry!
