asking for a friend (I asked my premed advisors, they have different opinions)

friend of mine from west coast Canada applied last year to a few schools, late in cycle, didn't get accepted

she's planning on applying for 2009
she will be adding several more schools (learned more about US schools)
will those additional schools know where she applied in 2006 (for 2007)?

i believe that on the AMCAS they will ask if you have previously applied to any medical schools.

Actually, as a re-applicant myself, AMCAS asks if you have previously applied to each individual school. So, I think the schools you have applied to before will know, but not necessarily the new additions.

That said, I received interview invites from both new schools on my list and ones I applied to before, so it's worth keeping those old ones on the list if you really want to go there.

On some secondaries, you might be asked if you are a reapplicant as well and not just in regards to that particular school.

Agree....I think somewhere throughout the application process it will come up whether it be on the primary, secondary, or interview.

I know it comes up if your reapplying to the same school. And (good news, i think) Iowa specifically told me borderline OOS applicants who reapply will often have a lot better chances their second year, not just b/c they improved their app, but they have found they are more likely to matriculate if accepted, and not be scared of the great mid-west.
