I'm not denying they teach creationism. It's a religious school.... this shouldn't be shocking. Their students have minds and can decide for themselves what they believe. Good news, you don't have to go if you don't want to. You have sources for these? Clearly their "anti gay" policies aren't severe enough to be targeted for discrimination suits as far as I've heard.

The only ignorance, bigotry, and hate I see is coming from you. As far as I know, LUCOM isn't on these boards trying to slander you.
 
As you've said yourself, neither of us is going to change the other's mind. I'm simply trying to play devil's advocate to expose some of the mud-slinging on these boards for what it really is.

Yes, it should be shocking. If you're awarding science degrees, you shouldn't be putting religion into it. That's against the entire purpose of science and knowledge.

I can't believe you dragged me back into this crap. At this point I'm much more inclined to believe you're a troll.

Nice dodging of my challenge to produce ANY sort of evidence of LUCOM's terrible policies. Your accusations are still null.

Just cause you feel this way doesn't mean everybody does. Incidentally I'm a religious person with a science degree. I find there's no issue there.

Lol I know having your deeply held beliefs challenged feels like you're getting trolled. Welcome to the world of "open mindedness" that you as a scientist have been professing. I typically sat idly by in the past when these kind of discussions were going on, because I'm usually not one to argue (you can check my post history if you want). I suppose I engaged you in discussion because you were the most recent LU hater, I wanted to give someone who slanders LU a chance to redeem themselves by admitting that people should be able to live the lives that they want, by their own religious conviction given it does no harm to others.

If every LU student is actively bullying members of another race, sexual orientation, or whatever I would gladly take back everything I've said and join your cause. All I'm saying is I don't think that's the case.

Simply put: I'm not attacking your way of life, I simply ask that you stop attacking mine (or in the case of our previous discussion, those who choose to go to LU)

I think we are more in agreement than disagreement. Sure, in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter to attend the institution ranked 200 vs 204 or 209, but I think that what you call a pro and con list is what I'm thinking by saying rank. I do, however, acknowledge you're right that it would be very hard to objectively describe certain aspects of what could be considered "better" as they differ based on goals, like you mention.

The "best" DO school and "worst" DO are in the same unranked tier. It's kinda sad to see such argument of subjective feelings about rank when objectively theres no argument. What's worse is to see DO students and premeds **** on some DO schools while being upset the vast majority of medicine looks down on all DO schools in general. All DO students are in the same boat. I guarantee NYU isn't going to take it's first DO for IM because they're from MSUCOM vs a new DO because they hear its rumored to be unofficially better.

Maybe discuss which schools have stronger core sites or better chances to publish, but arguing about rankings of the unranked is embaressing.

A few RVU students mentioned that the dean sent out an email saying RVU had the highest first time pass rate and the second highest overall scores (IIRC).

...and that is why I really hope to get my acceptance next week!

@chizledfrmstone Source is the dean who taught at TCOM and got them the highest scores in the country, then moved to RVU and did the same, and now is at KCUMB.

Most of it is off... About half the schools are where they should be but the other half are ridiculously off.

Also the smart rank thing is incredibly wrong - I am sure LMU is better than CCOM haha. Or that LECOM is better than PCOM.

I would say use it as nothing else but an adjunct source. Your main source should be the school's themselves and then double check with people on here.



Side note, just saw DMU's median GPA is a 2.8, and CCOM is a 2.75... Seriously, that website is way off for DO schools.

That site is way off. Probably off by a decade if not more, or they miscategorized cutoffs as median scores or something.

When it comes to ACGME residency program ranking meetings; everyone else = LUCOM.

The only time rankings have meant anything at my program are with the MD programs. We get a fair number of Harvard, Penn, Duke, Hopkins, Case, UCSF etc applicants. Those people usually get a boost from the school they went to (though generally IMO they're not really any better clinically or knowledge wise when the rubber hits the road).

Otherwise its's "this applicant went to DO", zero mention of where. Carribbean grads are rarely ever interviewed but when they are, they slot in below the DO applicants or aren't ranked.

We do end up matching DO's every year however.
