Do schools see your MCAT scores before you do?

I know that this has been discussed before, but does anyone have definitive word on this? Anyone last year start getting interview invites a couple of weeks before the August scores came out (knowing your April scores wouldn't have gotten you interviews)? I know that the e-mcat people emphatically deny schools getting early notification, but I think that's just so people don't discover the back channel, if it indeed exists.

BTW, same question goes for our undergrad health professions offices. Thanks!

When I took the August MCAT the schools in Texas knew before I did what my score was. I know this cause I had a summery of my application mailed to me and it had my MCAT scores listed before I got them from the MCAT people.

Did you get your score in the mail or looked it up online?

I think they have access to them. UT Houston will grant ppl interviews w/o MCAT scores if their applications seem qualified. An interviewer at UT Houston told me that he looked up scores for an applicant he was interviewing who had taken the MCAT for the first time but hadnt received his scores yet. He immediately regretted it b/c the interviewer had to tell him that he scored a 19. OUCH!

Anyhow, I'm not sure when he looked the scores up, but it was obviously he had access to them before the results were released to the applicants.

I guess that would sorta change the tone of the interview, eh?

It seems outrageous to me that the AAMC would claim that no way no how are scores available before they are released, but then have a back door. Except of course for the mail delay, which was around 4 days in April, as I recall. Just seems unlikely they would lie about that. Why lie?

About the Texas schools: if we have to "resend" the new scores via MCAT THx, how do the schools know the new scores beforehand? I selected Yes for "AMCAS Release," but there was nothing about releasing to other entities.

I had designated the Texas schools to get my scores when I took the MCAT. So my scores were already released. I hadn't gotten the mail scores yet but I remember thinking that the TX schools had my scores quite awhile before I got my scores. Like maybe two weeks difference.

Megalofyia, did you take the MCAT before 2003? Because I think that's when they changed the system. As I understand it, before you would write in the codes for all the schools you wanted to send scores to, like the SAT. Now, you have to choose TMDSAS via the MCAT THx system, after you see your scores online.

Now that just ain't right-they shouldn't have our scores before we even look at them? We are already getting raped enough in this whole process!
