do schools set your application aside if you indicate you're retaking mcat?

i read on a thread that schools set your application aside and don't even look at it until your new mcat score??? I have never heard of this and was wondering if this was true. I submitted my application 6/2 but will retake my mcat July 30th to improve from 27R (3.98 gpa, lots of extracurriculars and research).

thanks for any responses and if this was a previous thread, i apologize for the repeat. feel free to direct me to the thread that i should be reading 🙂

There might be other threads about that, but I called one school when I applied and asked them about this and they said definitely not. I would say your best bet is just to call though and ask because they're always pretty helpful over the phone - email, not so much.

No, not necessarily. When I applied around this time last summer, I noted on my AMCAS that I was retaking on July 8. I got an email from some stating my application was on "Hold" until they received my new scores. Other schools I didn't hear anything from until well into the application cycle, so I'm assuming they also put me on hold. There were, however, a few that flat out rejected me before my new scores even were reported.

wts the reasons/criteria for rejection then?? would it be gpa, curriculum and such?
