Hi all,

I am trying to recover from a 2.7 GPA with 166 Credits.

I have four D's in upper level Economics classes that I would have to re-take to bring my GPA up. I would have to retake the pre-reqs for those courses and am financially unable to commit to that. As of right now after taking 14 science courses, post bacc, and earning A's in all of them I have only brought my GPA up to a 2.9. Are there any schools that look at the last 60 Hours of study? I have been looking around and saw some for MD but have not noticed any for DO.

Thank you!

I think there are fewer DO schools (compared to MD) that do this because of AACOMAS' grade replacement policy. I feel your pain though OP, I just finished retaking Micro and am moving on to Macro this summer.

I didn't notice any DO schools that replace with recent credits.

The closest thing I saw was Edward via. They emphasized the last 120 credits on your transcript.

Thank you very much for that information. It is very helpful.

Ya it's rough. At 34 I am watching all of my friends have kids and get married and I am still stressing about midterms. It does seem like the MD route does more of the last X many credits. Unfortunately for me I had to bomb upper level courses whose pre reqs expire. Good luck in Macro, from what I remember that was the "easier" one.

I don't think any do, most likely because of how easy it can be to retake classes. But if you have recent strong coursework and your bad classes are from a long time ago you will probably get some looks

What's your sGPA????

If you really want to give yourself the best chance for med school retake F/D's (especially F's in sciences if you have any) in whatever courses possible, as DO's allow for grade replacement. Eliminating F and D's does wonders for one's gpa. DO's in general will look at your upward trend, but you really should aim to get your gpa above ~3.25 as you don't want to get eliminated by gpa filters.

Also take biochem and nail the MCAT, so you prove to adcoms that you've fixed whatever problem.

Best of Luck
