While I'm not applying at this moment (not done with pre-reqs), I wanted to make a list of schools to visit. I have a 3.0 GPA and live in PA. I know that PA is notoriously difficult, even for in staters, to get in, so I wanted to look into places still in the North East.

First time post to help someone out, but your best bet for a comprehensive understanding of the process is to read as much about it online as you can then see what fits for your unique applicant profile (we all unique after all!). Perhaps have a look at the AACOM Stats for the Entering Classes (I can't link them because I just joined), it'll give you a better idea of the schools located around you (look for the DO map) & also how many students matriculated from in-state & out-of-state to those schools. You should be able to find those with a quick Google search.

Also, sidenote: you can apply to most if not all schools before your pre-reqs are complete (as long as you can finish them prior to matriculation). Best bet is to check in with the schools of course. Hope that helps!

Really a moot point without an mcat. With a e.0 gpa you’re going to need to apply broadly regardless.

^This has some info for 2015 class on the second slide, unfortunately I think the schools that accept more out of state students are not really north east (not many osteopathic schools in the real north east anyways). UNECOM is up there though! I also believe NYIT-COM accepts more from the general NY region (so any out of state students will be from the surrounding states including PA). Hope this helps. I would still apply broadly.

Definitely applying broadly, I just prefer a certain region. I'll still check NYIT-COM
