Hey guys, wondering if anyone knows if any of the DO schools allow for 'advanced standing' transfers, as in you get into one DO school and 'transfer' to another for clinicals...

I know some MD schools do it, but you have to have been in an MD school already, and not in a DO program...

Any help appreciated!

No, it's because I'd rather be closer to my husband if I could switch at some point... 🙂 That's why I'm trying to figure out which schools may offer it 😉

that's what i meant. not like the clinical areas should have been rather be elsewhere. i would love to know this as well. if my #1 doesn't work, my #2 is 3 hours away, and it is more doable if there is a possibility to come back to my home town after 2 years.

Exactly!

I have seen a few MD schools that will allow DO students to transfer, and TCOM, that's all I've found so far... Nothing where I want yet though... 🙁

Commitment is a big deal with med schools, and they don't want people moving around once matriculated. They'd rather grant a leave of absence for contingencies. TCOM's transfer procedure requires board scores and a personal interview at the end if the applicant gets that far - I'm not aware of any successful applicants. Transfers are extremely rare in MD schools according to http://www.usnews.com/education/blo...08/22/transferring-between-us-medical-schools.

Except a LOA would be no help to me... What would be the point of delaying my education that's 2000 miles away from home? I get your point, but I don't need or want a LOA...
