Does the MSAR include DO schools? I noticed that they say they cover ALL medical schools...? If not, is there a book which does cover DO schools?

MSAR is mostly (exclusively?) about AAMC schools.

I'd bet the document you want is here:

Yes, MSAR covers the DO schools.

Well, I've got the 2005-2006 MSAR published by AAMC on my lap. The fact that it's published by AAMC should be a hint...

What year is yours? Did you actually crack it open and check to be sure it had DO schools?

2002-2003, still published by AAMC back then

so you are saying they took out the DO and Canadian schools from the back?

No.

The Canadian schools are still there.

for some strange reason I remember hearing that there are two different versions of MSAR. One with DO schools and one without. This might explain a discrepency?

if it matters.. My cover reads US and Canada 2005-2006. and the subtitle says ALL, in caps, Medical Schools.

Checked florida and PA, no DO schools.

My book had them in the back, in their own section.

in a reply from AAMC:

"Dear Applicant,

Thank you for contacting AMCAS.

The MSAR does not include information on DO schools.

If you have any questions or if we can be of additional assistance, please contact us at [email protected] or (202) 828-0600."

The princeton review book on medical schools does include info. on DO schools. That is where I found the info in addition to going to the aacomas website.

Yeah, they do. medschoolstats.com does, too.

The 2004-2005 version that I had bought contained only LCME-accredited medical schools. It's a misnomer that they advertise that it covers all medical schools, considering that osteopathic med. schools aren't in there. If you want to get a rough idea of the statistics, it's best to look at US N&WR. I didn't find the Princeton Review books to be reliable for either the allopathic or osteopathic schools, and wouldn't recommend them to anyone; the book seems to be full of outdated numbers.

Ok, I answered the question in the first reply to the OP. Someone had to go to AMCAS to get the same response?!
