Most of them send them out to all applicants who have stats above 2.75 GPA (some its 3.0) and above 21-23 MCAT total. Basically you just have to pass thier minimums but in some cases you can ask them to give you one even after you have been rejected pre-secondary.

Most of them send out a secondary to everyone who passes their minimum cutoff, but West Virginia only sends it out if they want you for an interview. New York has you fill one out at the interview.

What is the secondary for NYCOM like? Does it contain any essay? If so what kind of questions?

I got a letter from NYCOM the other day saying that the secondary application will only be sent to people who are offered interviews. Interview invites will be based on the applicant's primary AACOMAS application. The letter also stated that LOR's and transcripts are not to be forwarded to the admissions office until AFTER sept. 1st. Hope this helps out.

oops, i thought i got a secondary, but i really just got an email update with a login to their status page. so i don't do anything now until i hear from them? it sounds like they don't even want letters until you're invited for an interview.

I'd call and find out to make sure.

Most schools will send you out a secondary if you meet the min. requirements. The secondary I got from Nycom last year was only sent to you if you got an interview it was a lot shorter than any of the other secondary apps. If you get an interview from NYCOM defiantely look at the interview forum here, interviews are highly variable from group to group.
