Do some schools require snail mail lor

I noticed on detroit mercys website that they specifically ask for letters of recommedation to be written on university letterhead and signed, etc.

does this mean that we have to send them extra snai mail LORs or have they just not updated their website in a few years? lol

i was also warned by my proff who is writing me a letter that one student had her application on hold because the school requested a snail mail official copy of the letter and would not accept the electronic one.

has anyone had an experience like this???
